Project Post: Chunky Pearl Bracelet

I am certainly glad to be beading again.

Joining the Philippine Crafters' Association (PCA), one of Facebook's groups, has so much to do with the strong urge for me to go and get my tools and start working on a new project. The members are very supportive with their comments and suggestions on each post that asks for such. It has also opened a lot of sources for inspiration from very seasoned crafters of various media.

And then I came across this very dainty site, The Beadlady, and was really impressed with one of her DIY projects for Mother's Day:

I got so inspired with this piece that I got so fired up to give in to that urge to grab my tools and create my own version of this piece. And then came up with this:

For this project, I used the following materials:

Acrylic pearls - 40 pieces of 3 different shades* (I actually wanted to make a solid-colored bracelet, but I only had 8 pieces of the baby pink pearls, so I decided to use up the other pearls that had the closest shades to it.)

Metal findings:
Eye pins - 50 pieces
Toggle clasps - 1 pair
Jump ring - 1 piece
Heart charm - 1 piece
Chandelier connector with 5 loops - 2 pieces
Bead caps - 80 pieces

You may refer to The Beadlady's instructions on the basic looping of the eye pins for each pearl bead here. Then check on these pictures for the rest of the steps:

One of the important modifications I've made for this piece is to use eye pins in place of jump rings. If you would see on the sixth image, I twisted the other end of the eye pin as one would after the bead has been inserted. I only used the jump ring to connect the heart charm to the circular end of the toggle clasp. I did so to make the piece more durable.

I hope you enjoy creating this piece as much as I did!

Please share what you think of this piece. Did you make one too? Please post a photo of your version and I would love to hear from you. :)

Stay glam!
